Think of CMIT Solutions as a “Geek Squad” that specializes in addressing business issues.
An Austin, Texas, company wants to open as many as five IT service franchises in the Portland area.
With the expansion, CMIT Solutions would add to its Oregon stable, which includes an office in Bend. The Portland outlets, located at various Multnomah County points, would employ as many as eight workers.
CMIT bills itself as an information technology services provider that supplies assistance and products to small- and medium-sized businesses. It opened 17 new franchises during 2012.
The local moves are part of what a CMIT spokesman dubbed “an aggressive growth strategy in Multnomah County.”
Its services include ensuring that computers remain operating, protecting data and making sure that networks are secure.
The Portland strategy would help CMIT complete a coast-to-coast expansion, the company said in a release promoting its impending growth.
“There is no arguing that we are in a Golden Age of technology advancement,” said Jeff Connally, the company’s president and CEO, in a statement. “Costs are coming down and new solutions arrive nearly every day.
“However, to keep pace and ensure business continuity without disruptions, (small and medium businesses) need” customized support for their tech systems.
CMIT sites each franchise so that owners have between 2,000 and 3,000 “prime target businesses” within a “protected territory.”
CMIT’s partners include Dell, Microsoft and Intuit.
